Final Fantasy XIV is finally launching an open beta to test the servers for Xbox Players. The Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S Open Beta Test will start on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 12:00 AM PST / 3:00 AM EST. Anyone will be able to join as long as they have an Xbox Series X|S and have not played the game on other platforms.
This open beta is exclusively for new players who have never tried Final Fantasy XIV before. If you already own the free trial on another platform or have a registered FFXIV license on your Square Enix account, you won’t be able to join this testing phase. So, if your Square Enix account is active or was active in this game, you’re out of luck.
Participation is easy:
- Find your Xbox privacy settings: Ensure your settings allow multiplayer gaming and communication with other players. You can find these options under Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer.
- Adjust the required settings: Make sure that all of the settings are set to where they need to be to participate.
- You can join multiplayer games set to Allow
- You can join cross-network play set to Allow
- Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites set to Everybody
- You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text set to Everybody
- You can see and upload community creations set to Everybody
From there, you can download the Free Trial specifically for Xbox Series X|S and wait to begin the Open Beta. The free trial you download will be the same app used for the full game, so there is no need to uninstall it after the beta ends.
The Open Beta is completely free but comes with many restrictions. In the open beta test, you’ll find the same content and limitations as in the regular free trial to get a feel for the story. You cannot make any purchases during the beta, and you will need an Xbox Game Pass subscription if you want to play the game after the beta.
