The team behind Aliens: Dark Descent is ushering in the game’s first considerable patch, bringing in a range of bug fixes, balance adjustments, and the addition of new traumas to diversify the player experience.

This patch features a comprehensive list of major bug fixes. Notably, an error blocking the player from unlocking the Olduvai Refinery (Mission 11) after concluding Pryce of Deception (Mission 10) has been resolved. As a result, players whose progress has been hindered by this error can now redeploy to Pryce of Deception and extract to unlock Mission 11.

Moreover, the patch addresses issues like civilians disappearing when dropped on the ground of a lift and on the mines of Dead Hills (Mission 1). Another significant fix ensures that the Massive Onslaught does not stop shortly after it starts. The patch also fixes an issue where a marine enduring a Facehugger’s embrace during recovery from ragdoll doesn’t restrict his skills and movements.

The patch solves multiple issues with dialogues that previously prevented players from progressing in the game, and adds a protective feature that will teleport your marines, drones, civilians near their current position if they get stuck in the environment.

Also addressed in the update are various crashes that could occur, such as when eggs were opening to release facehuggers or due to the Alien AI, and when loading the autosave of the Runner’s introduction cinematic, among others. These improvements increase the stability of the game, particularly for those using a gamepad.

The balance changes in the patch are designed to tweak the gameplay experience. For instance, aliens will now only detect players faster if they are close to the noise source. There has also been a significant increase in the humanoids’ respawn timer in Missions 2, 3, 7, and 10.

Furthermore, the patch has converted the power loader phases of Olduvai Main Mine (Mission 11) and Tantalus Base (Mission 8) into infinite onslaughts, and removed several shelter positions across various locations, to adjust the game’s difficulty level.

The patch introduces five new traumas to the game, increasing diversity and deepening the gameplay experience. The new additions include Hypochondriac, Hematophobia, Anthrophobia, Obsessive-Compulsive, and Xenomorphobia.
