How to Spawn a Megalodon in Fisch
The Megalodon has a low spawn rate (around 5% per day), but you can use the Sundial Totem to increase your chances in Fisch. Although the Sundial Totem can be purchased on Sunstone Island, a much faster method involves resetting a VIP server. Every time a VIP server is reset, a Megalodon is guaranteed to spawn behind Ancient Isle. This might be unintentional, but it’s a reliable way to trigger the event. Here’s the process using the Sundial Totem:
- Go to Sunstone Island: This island is located near Moosewood and is where you can purchase the Sundial Totem. The easiest way to locate Sunstone Island is by boat, using the ocean as your guide. Once there, head upstairs using the ladder to reach the area where the Sundial Totem is sold. The totem can be found in a small cove on the opposite side of the building on Sunstone Island.
- Purchase Sundial Totems: The Sundial Totem costs $2,000 each. Buy as many as you can afford (20 is recommended).
- Use the Sundial Totem: Using the totem will advance the in-game day cycle. A red text notification will appear, saying, “There has been a Megalodon spotted” This indicates that the Megalodon has spawned near Ancient Isle. You’ll also see a message “Today is a new day” when the day cycles.
How to Catch the Megalodon: Best Rod & Bait
- Rod: The Steady Rod is a good starting option. If you have more cash, the King Rod is excellent. The best rod for catching the Megalodon is the Rod of the Depths. The Trident Rod can also be used, especially if you plan on making the shark bigger later.
- Bait: While regular bait crates can be used, the best bait comes from the Desolate Deep pocket. This location is also where you obtain the Trident Rod. The best baits for the Megalodon are Coral, Seaweed, and especially Deep Coral. Equip one of these baits before starting the hunt. Shark Head bait can be used as well.
Hooking and Reeling
Once you’ve hooked the Megalodon (indicated by a rainbow exclamation point and shimmering sound), the real challenge begins. The Megalodon’s Progress Speed is between 80% and 85%, making resilience essential.
- Progress Speed: 80% for regular Megalodon, 85% for Ancient and Phantom Megalodon.
- Resilience: Use a rod with high resilience or the Resilient enchantment. This will greatly help prevent the fish from escaping and keep the progress bar under control.
Megalodon Variants and Additional Tips
There are three Megalodon variants:
- Megalodon
- Ancient Megalodon
- Phantom Megalodon (obtained during a Solar Eclipse, appears as a tornado on the fish radar)
All variants have no specific weather or time requirements, and they can be caught with the same rods and bait. Small servers are better for catching Megalodons as you have more chances. The Eclipse Totem can be used to trigger a solar eclipse and spawn the Phantom Megalodon.
