Fisch Rod Of The Depths Guide
First things first, you gotta get to Vertigo. Find a strange whirlpool out in the open sea, jump in, and whoosh—you’re in Veritgo, but now you need to find the Gate of the Depths. Head down into the Vertigo Dip by the ladder in front of Synch, and head to the bottom to find water. You’ll notice a pathway deeper filled with red crystals; follow this to find the Gate of the Depths, but it’ll be locked.
To the right of the gate is a ghostly NPC that can open it, but there are two requirements.

Gate of the Depths Unlock Requirements
To open the Gate of the Depths, you need two things:
- Complete the Vertigo Bestiary:
- Catch every fish in Vertigo; you can get them all apart from one by fishing anywhere in Vertigo.
- The exception is the Isonade, which can only be caught by fishing directly above the strange whirlpool.
- Catch every fish in Vertigo; you can get them all apart from one by fishing anywhere in Vertigo.
- Find the Depths Key:
- This key unlocks the Gate of the Depths and can only be found by fishing in Vertigo. The good news is it’s not super rare to find.

Once you have them both, return to the ghost NPC, and he’ll say, “Well, I’ll be… Looks like you’re prepared. Go on, then. I won’t be risking my neck beyond that gate, but best of luck to you.” And then open the gate.
The Abyssal and Hexed Relics
You need two Relics; one has to be an Abyssal Relic, and one has to be a Hexed Relic. These need to be placed on two different pedestals found near the Merchant.
How to Get Abyssal and Hexed Relics
Head to the appraiser in Moosewood and start appraising a normal Enchanted Relic. Sometimes, these relics will mutate into either an Abyssal Relic or a Hexed Relic. It’s random, so just keep appraising until you have one of each.
Finding the Pedestals for the Abyssal and Hexed Relics
- Placing the Relics:
- Navigate to the First Pedestal
- After entering the Gate of the Depths, jump over the platforms and follow the path marked with red mushrooms. You’ll eventually reach a pool of water.
- Find the Merchant
- Dive into the water and swim forward. Climb the rocks on the other side, and you’ll find a merchant.
- Navigate to the First Pedestal

- Locate Aspicientis and the Blue Pedestal
- To the right of the merchant, you’ll see a large red crystal. Follow the path past the crystal, and you’ll start to see what looks like a letter “A” rune or symbol. Keep following this path, and you’ll find an NPC named Aspicientis. The blue pedestal for the Abyssal Relic is located directly below Aspicientis. Place the Abyssal Relic on the blue pedestal.

- Find the Waterfall and the Red Pedestal
- Now for the Hexed Relic! Turn back towards the path you took from the merchant. You should see a waterfall. Swim up the waterfall, and then take the path to the left. You’ll find the red pedestal for the Hexed Relic here. Place the Hexed Relic on the red pedestal.

With both relics in place, a hole in the ground will open up, revealing a maze area.

The Depths Maze
Placing both relics opens a maze – a hole in the ground. It’s highly recommended to have the following gear to make navigating the maze much easier:
- Tidebreakers
- These purple aquatic devices greatly increase your swim speed, making traversing the maze much faster. Purchase them for 80,000C$ in the Desolate Pocket.
- Flippers
- These provide an additional swim speed boost. Find them in the left and right caves of the Desolate Deep, buy them for 9,000 credits in the Desolate Pocket market, or find them on a table in the left cave.
- Advanced Diving Gear
- This gear is crucial for deep-sea exploration. Buy it for 15,000C$ from a buoy at coordinates XYZ: -786, 132, -3102 in the ocean or from the Maverick Merchant in the Desolate Deep.
Important Notes:
- Dying in the maze means losing your mutated relics! Be very careful.
- The gate to the Depths closes when you leave the game or switch servers, requiring you to find another Depths Key.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to navigating the maze:
- Dive into the maze and keep swimming downwards.
- Swim to the left of the large, single red crystal.
- Continue forward, past a blue crystal and two red crystals.
- Take the first left. You’ll see a green block above you.
- Swim past the green block and take a right. You’ll see another green block on your right if you’re on the correct path.
- Take a left at the green block.
- Then take a right.
- Follow this narrow path for a short distance.
- Do not take the next right. Instead, swim towards the blue crystal.
- Take a left at the blue crystal. You’ll see another blue crystal and a red one.
- Swim upwards. You’ll find the Rod of the Depths on a statue! It costs 750,000 credits.
I recommend watching the video below if you need a more visual aid. It will start just as they enter the maze!
