Despite being extremely popular and having many background stories, a Fortnite movie doesn’t appear to be happening soon. Despite this, the former creative director of Fortnite (and co-creator of the game), Donald Mustard, is still excited about the concept and thinks he has a clear plan for how it would be adapted into a movie.

In a recent interview, Mustard expressed confidence in his ability to create the “ultimate version” of a Fortnite movie. The game features a rich storyline with popular characters like Jonesy and The Paradigm, providing plenty of material for a movie adaptation. Mustard’s vision might help resolve lingering questions about the Fortnite universe and offer a satisfying, coherent storyline.

“If there ever was a Fortnite movie, I know exactly how I would make it. I think I would make the best version of that. But we’re not… Even back then, there were never actual plans to make a Fortnite movie and I don’t anticipate that changing anytime soon. I think Fortnite as an experience is very unique to the medium it’s in right now and I know that. So, I don’t think there will be a Fortnite movie at least not anytime soon, but I think people would love it.”

While Mustard is really excited about it, he admits that Epic Games isn’t working on a Fortnite movie right now. This means his ideas won’t become a movie anytime soon. It’s surprising that Epic Games isn’t doing anything about it, especially when video game shows like The Last of Us and Fallout have been doing well. However, it makes sense because not every game translates well, and you need a good director.

Mustard recently departed from Epic Games to join AGBO, a production company established by the Russo Brothers. The brothers are known for directing box office successes such as Avengers: Endgame. This move may pave the way for potential involvement in a Fortnite film project in the future.

Directors like Zack Snyder (300) and Louis Leterrier (Fast X) have also told Games Radar they want to make a movie based on the game. This suggests Hollywood is very interested in introducing the world of Fortnite to more people.

Mustard is no longer with Epic Games, so he is unlikely to know exactly what is happening. However, since he is close to the studio, we are inclined to believe him.
