The controversy around Helldivers 2 has caused a lot of concern for PC players. Sony’s decision to require PC players to create and link a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to continue playing the game has led to a wave of negative reviews on Steam. We think this may have led to a decision to exclude Ghost of Tsushima from this as well.
Fans eagerly awaiting the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima can relax. The developers, Sucker Punch Productions, have confirmed that players won’t be required to set up a PSN account to enjoy the game’s single-player campaign. The company announced this on X (Formerly Twitter) (Thanks, wccftech).
That means if you want to play the Legends multiplayer mode in Ghost of Tsushima, you’ll need a PSN account. Also, a PSN account is required if you plan to use the PlayStation Overlay feature on a PC.
Sucker Punch Productions answering players like this may be in response to the negative feedback surrounding Helldivers 2. This move is pretty smart because the integration to PC is not going Sony’s way.
This is mostly their own fault because Sony has a bad reputation for keeping data safe. We’ve listed it in our original report on Helldivers 2, but we hear about the company getting hacked more than we’d like.
Basically, Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PC on May 16, 2024, without the need to sign into PSN. If you want to play multiplayer, you will have to log into PSN and go through the whole deal. There doesn’t seem to be a way around this whole thing.
