God of War Ragnarök, one of the most highly anticipated AAA titles on any platform, has officially “gone gold”. The update means that God of War Ragnarök has finally reached its completed form, and the master copy is considered ready for mass release.
The game is currently scheduled to launch on November 9th, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Here’s the big announcement from developer Santa Monica Studio’s Twitter feed:
This is a regular step in any production process, but every update from God of War Ragnarök has been carefully scrutinized due to the high demand of the franchise. As a PlayStation exclusive, it remains a flagship series for the console.
Further, there was a time when the God of War sequel could hardly muster a release window, let alone a trailer. The release date was barely confirmed back in July 2022.
The storytelling and combat systems of the God of War series are iconic, and all of the sneak peeks at the upcoming game have generated intense buzz. Going gold is surely a breath of relief for fans that everything is on track for a successful launch.
This means that it is much less likely the game will suffer any kind of last-minute delay, which isn’t always out of the question, even for larger AAA titles. With such a popular game on hand, neglecting to announce the gold status may have been a signal that the game wasn’t exactly keeping pace.
Last month, PlayStation revealed a lengthy story trailer as part of their state of play. You can review three minutes of stunning cinematics on PlayStation’s YouTube channel here:
It’s been a long journey, and the fans have been patient, but now everyone can relax and count the days to launch. You can read more about God of War Ragnarök and other hit PlayStation games by checking out the rest of our news section!
