Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV) players fans will be disappointed to learn about the cancellation of planned story mode DLC. Actor Steve Ogg, who voices the character Trevor Philips, has revealed more details about a potential DLC expansion called “Agent Trevor.” Rumors about these DLCs have been around for a while, but Ogg’s comments give us a lot more information than before.
In a recent interview, Ogg mentioned that Rockstar considered having Trevor pose as a federal agent. This version of Trevor would have retained his wild personality but also adopted the mannerisms of a sophisticated secret agent. Ogg verified that certain scenes for this DLC had been recorded before the idea was eventually scrapped (thanks, The Loadout).
Datamined information from leaks in late 2023 suggests that this would have gone far. “Agent Trevor” was reportedly one of three planned episodic expansions for GTA 5’s story mode. The other two, “Zombie Apocalypse” and “Alien Invasion,” show the studio may have been planning DLC content like GTAIV, where the stories move away from the main storyline.
The reasons for canceling the DLC are not clear. It was first announced in 2013 but quietly disappeared, and its cancellation was officially confirmed in 2017. There is speculation that Rockstar’s attention shifted towards the very successful GTA Online, and this trend has continued in the following years.
While the full “Agent Trevor” DLC was never released, some of its elements seemed incorporated into GTA Online’s Doomsday and Diamond Casino heists. An AI neural network script featuring Clifford is said to connect the canceled DLC to the Doomsday heist in particular. We won’t know for sure, and Ogg touched on it very briefly, but at least we know there is a lot of truth to that rumor.
