Halo Infinite has just released a brand-new trailer for Season 4: Infection, which is slated to roll out on June 20th, 2023. Aside from the return of Infection mode, the next season will offer a 100-tier battle pass, new maps, the Career Rank progression system and more.

The return of Infection is undoubtedly a relief, as it was a real highlight in customs. It’s a swift, simple mode that can result in some thrilling, controlled chaos. Fellow fans might also recall the variety of modded, Infection-themed escape maps. The mode is surprisingly flexible, even if it requires some careful balancing.

There’s a brief glimpse of the new BTB map “Scarr”, which looks decent. The Mustafar-style location has some clean vehicle paths, though it could use better variations in elevation and lines of sight.

The upcoming equipment will definitely have an impact on the meta, as map traversal and wall hacking do in any shooter. Their limits remain to be seen, and players will have to get crafty with the translocator, but the new equipment might need some rebalancing.

Forest is a neat and twisty Arena, which reintroduces some more nature-driven combat as opposed to the countless contained structures.

Naturally, highlighting the community is always going to be a win. The new doubles playlist has some terrific themes and ideas. Since today’s trailer description mentions that Forge will see even more improvements, it’s clear the fanbase can rely on each other for consistently great, fresh content.

Season 4 looks promising, but since Infection is such a big deal, one can’t help but notice how much the devs are still playing catch up with features that were expected at launch.
