Have a Nice Death, the roguelike platformer with a sense of humor from developer Magic Design Studios and publisher Gearbox Publishing, has detailed plans for a new update following the full launch. The patch will feature changes for Easy Mode, balancing, bug fixes, and general quality of life improvements.

The update doesn’t have an exact release date, just yet. However, according to an official post, the update is due to roll out “in the coming weeks”. Also, a follow-up patch is expected to “come later”.

Have a Nice Death released a 1.0 version on March 22nd, 2023, following a lengthy Early Access. It’s available on the PC and Nintendo Switch.

Have a Nice Death may have some playful comedy and visuals, but roguelikes are hardly accessible. Any buffs to Easy Mode are going to make a serious difference for the uninitiated.

Hopefully, Easy Mode will become more inviting for those who prefer roguelites and other action platformers. The world of Have a Nice Death is definitely worth exploring, as we gave it a glowing review. The devs have a very sharp wit, and definitely make the most of the game’s corporate theme.

The full launch of Have a Nice Death added the Inevitable Time Department, including a lot more content. So, it’s nice to see that the Natural Disaster Department has been rebalanced as a War Department alternative. This will definitely tighten up the game’s pacing so that it feels more consistent with the Early Access version.

Since the mechanics were already fairly polished throughout Early Access, the new bug fixes seem relatively small. But the quality-of-life and balancing improvements should feel immediately noticeable. It’s great to see how much support the devs are still dedicating following the full launch.
