Hearthstone has announced that it will substitute its Classic Mode with a new Mode, named Twist, starting from Patch 26.6, which is slated for release later this month.
Twist is being introduced as a ladder Mode featuring recurring seasons, each presenting a unique set of rules. Possible formats could encompass custom card pools and special rulesets, aimed to reintroduce players’ preferred elements in a novel setting with a fresh meta to decipher.
Twist formats are scheduled for regular changes but not necessarily with each season. The game developers also hinted at occasional deactivations of Twist as preparations for the subsequent seasons are underway. Twist will be located in the Hearthstone menu, replacing the former position of the Classic Mode. Users will be able to access the rules and eligible card pools of the current Twist season from the deck selection screen.
The Twist Mode will be launched in its Beta version with Patch 26.6. Players will begin their Twist journey from Bronze 10. The first Twist season will be a brief one, concluding on July 1. Similar to Standard or Wild, Twist ladder will enable players to earn ranked rewards. The June’s ranked rewards will be based on the players’ highest ladder rank across Standard, Wild, Classic, or Twist. Once the Twist Beta commences, the official Leaderboards will transition from Classic to Twist.
Post-Beta, Twist will undergo a short period of deactivation as preparations for its official launch are made. The Beta Twist is projected to span across June and July.
The June and July Beta seasons of Twist will feature a format known as “New Age” due to the abbreviated June season. This evergreen format will encompass the Core Set and all sets from Ashes of Outland onward, creating a diverse and dynamic pool for players to explore during the Beta period.
To commemorate the Twist Beta, a special preview event has been planned for June 22 and 23, with Twitch Drops. Participants from across the globe will compete on a private version of the forthcoming Twist ladder. These competitions will be live-streamed from the players’ individual channels, offering a glimpse into the new Twist experience.
