Hi-Rez Studios has revealed that they will be ending support for their popular games Paladins and Rogue Company on the Nintendo Switch platform. The decision comes after much deliberation and discussion within the development team, as they felt the performance of both games on the Switch was not up to the standards expected by their community.
For Rogue Company, the third-person tactical action shooter, support for the Nintendo Switch version will be discontinued on June 20th. Hi-Rez Studios acknowledged the difficulty of this decision but emphasized that it will allow them to provide better support and focus on other platforms while delivering updates more flexibly and frequently as needed. In-game purchases for real money have already been disabled since April 11th, and Nintendo eShop purchases will be turned off as soon as possible.
Similarly, for the fantasy team-based shooter Paladins, support will cease following the release of the Midnight Masquerade update. Hi-Rez Studios says that they have spent considerable effort attempting to resolve platform-specific issues but has been unable to provide the level of support that the community deserves. The company will continue to support Paladins on the Switch until the subsequent update in late June, after which the game will be inaccessible on the platform. Paladins and its DLC are no longer available in the Nintendo eShop as of April 19th, and all in-game purchases on the Switch have been discontinued.
Switch players of both games who wish to continue their progress on other platforms are encouraged to use Hi-Rez account linking. More information on account linking can be found in the provided FAQ and blog. The termination of support for these games on the Switch will not impact players who have linked their accounts and are playing on other platforms such as PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Despite these significant changes, Hi-Rez Studios reassures its community that it remains committed to fully supporting Paladins and Rogue Company on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The development team appreciates the understanding and continued support of their players and believes that these changes will allow them to improve the gaming experience for everyone moving forward.
