During the Elder Scrolls Online Global Reveal stream, High Isle was finally confirmed as the next Chapter for 2022. Not only was High Isle announced, but the next year of content within ESO has been tied to the Bretons. Players can expect a story and a year of content that go back to the roots of Elder Scrolls in terms of political intrigue and war.
High Isle and the Legacy of Bretons in ESO
The next ESO chapter was rumored to take place in High Isle when the first teaser was revealed. Zenimax Online Studios made it clear that Bretons would be the main focus for the next full year of content, but nothing had been confirmed. Now players know that the Legacy of Bretons will dictate the next four content drops for 2022 in The Elder Scrolls Online.

High Isle is a new location that has never been visited in previous Elder Scrolls game. The location was only ever mentioned on a map and has been hidden to most fans of the lore. Overall, the location is supposed to resemble the typical fantasy setting that many players expect with a medieval aesthetic. There will be the main island that players can visit when the chapter drops on June 6, 2022 for PC. Console players will get the opportunity to play on June 21, 2022.
The second island will be available later in the year for the fourth content drop, which is typical for ESO overall. This zone won’t be as large as the main High Isle chapter, but it will still provide a new area to explore. Aside from the two new zones, players can also expect two content drops with new dungeons. Ascending Tide will be the first content drop within the Legacy of Bretons and it will contain two new dungeons.
Tales of Tribute, a new gameplay mechanic based on card games, will round out the new additions that define the year of the Bretons in ESO. Within the next couple of months, players will be able to begin their stories before the High Isle chapter.
