Hokko Life, the cute community sim game from developer Wonderscope and publisher Team17, has just released full patch notes for the World Shrine update.
The big update is available today on Nintendo Switch, and features some highly requested changes such as a dedicated design tab, expandable housing, a new fast travel mechanic and more. A release date for PS4 and Xbox have not been confirmed. Here’s the full announcement from Team17’s official Twitter feed:
Hokko Life is one of many adorable sim games aiming to compete with the enormous success of Animal Crossing. Fortunately, this one has been able to find its own distinguishing elements, and today’s World Shrines update is definitely reinforcing that course. The level of freedom that Hokko Life gives players is very important, here.
Aside from the variety of bug fixes, it’s clear the devs were willing to smooth out some issues regarding quality of life. Naturally, any fan will be pleased to learn they can add upstairs and downstairs rooms now. But the titular World Shrines is an absolute highlight.
It’s a fresh task that needs to be unlocked, and gives players a superior map traversal mechanic. Although some players might be annoyed that it removes some of the immersion, the World Shrines were organically worked into the lore and will simply make the gameplay loop a lot easier. It’ll help when you want to compare two areas, or quickly complete tasks with specific characters.
Because player creations play such a large role in Hokko Life, the new tab that organizes your own designs is also crucial for longtime fans.
Overall, if Hokko Life can continue to implement serious changes like this, it will become more accessible compared to similar titles and the fanbase will surely grow.
