Homeworld 3, a tactical space RTS, which is being developed by Blackbird Interactive and published by Gearbox, has just announced that they will be delaying the release of the game until the first half of 2023. The game was originally scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Homeworld 3 is a crowd funded project that obtained over 1.5 million in funding for the development of the game. It is billed as a true sequel to Homeworld 2, which was released back in 2003. These games feature detailed strategy oriented gameplay, where you will assume control of a fleet in space looking to defend the galaxy.

In a statement made on their official Twitter account, the team details that more time is needed to produce a quality game while working in a healthy and sustainable way on the game.

We are moving the launch of Homeworld 3 into the first half of 2023.

Delivering Homeworld 3 at the highest quality is the top priority for Gearbox Publishing and Blackbird Interactive because we recognize the special place this series holds in the hearts of players. This passion from players fuels the work and the additional time will allow us to make good on our commitment to quality in a healthy and sustainable way for all those involved.

Blackbird Interactive is building the Homeworld game that players have always dreamed of and we are excited to share the deepest look yet at Homeworld 3 during Gamescom later this summer.

We thank you all for your continued support.

Homeworld 3 will be released on PC in the first half of 2023 and be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
