This Wednesday, after the reveal of the opening cinematic of Honkai: Star Rail, their upcoming turn-based RPG, Hoyoverse took on HoYoLAB and revealed 6 new character showcases, focused on the game’s playable characters Kafka, Jing Yuan, Silver Wolf, Luocha, Seele, and Blade.
You can check out below a quick overview of each of the characters, all of who are currently available in the games’ close beta, according to their official descriptions present in HoYoLAB:
Kafka

A member of the Stellaron Hunters, Kafka is said to be ”calm, collected, and beautiful”. She is a lightning character, which means her normal attacks will deal elemental damage. She threads the Path of Nihility.
Unlike most characters in the game, Kafka makes use of many different weapons, such as knives, swords, and light guns when in combat. With that said, she is a character focused on dealing both high amounts of AoE damage and shocking enemies. Shocked enemies will take lightning damage at every turn.
Kafka is also able to follow up on allies’ attacks. Her Ultimate, on the other hand, allows her to deal high damage to all targets. While off battle, she is capable of initiating combat by shooting enemies, thus inflicting them with shock from the get-go.
Jing Yuan

”One of the six generals of the Xianzhou Alliance who leads the Cloud Knights of the Xianzhou Luofu”. Jing Yuan is a lightning character and threads the Path of Erudition.
When in battle, he is able to use his Talent to summon the Lightning Lord to his aid, dealing multiple stances of elemental damage to all enemies. His Skill allows him to deal elemental damage to all enemies. After Jing Yuan’s Skill damages enemies, the stances of damage of the Lightning Lord will also increase.
His Ultimate, on the other hand, allows both him and the Lord to strike in unison, dealing massive elemental damage while further powering up the summoned entity. When out of the field, he is able to use his Technique to buff the Lightning Lord’s damage before entering battle.
Silver Wolf

A member of the Stellaron Hunters as well as a genius hacker, being able to alter the data of reality thanks to her aether editing skill. Silver Wolf treads the Path of Nihility.
Silver Wolf is a character focused on debuffing enemies by lowering their resistance, thus increasing overall party damage. Her normal attacks deal Quantum DMG and may implant ”bugs” on enemies. Her Ultimate, which pulls enemies to her game world, can be seen as her biggest source of damage and her biggest weapon.
She is also able to initiate battle by making use of her Technique, which will allow her attacks to null enemy weakness types. After having their weakness broken, enemies will become slower and take damage at the beginning of their turns.
Luocha

Luocha is a foreign trader from beyond the seas, his most defining feature lies in the coffin he carries with him. He is a focused on support/healing. He treads the Path of The Abundance and deals Imaginary damage.
According to his character overview, Luocha is able to use his Skill to heal characters by a value based on his overall attack prowess. He is also able to buff characters with the ability to heal as they attack targets by using his Talent, as well as clear enemy buffs by making use of his Ultimate.
His Technique, on the other hand, allows him to heal the ally with the lowest overall HP in the party. With that said, he looks to be a great match for Blade, but more on that later.
Seele

Seele is a member of wildfire who grew up in the Underworld of Belobog. Known by many as the “Babochka”, she is used to working alone. She treads the Path of the Hunt.
Her Skill allows her to not only deal high amounts of single target damage but also increase her own speed, thus allowing her next turn to come faster. Seele’s Talent allows her to deal massive damage while also allowing her to gain an extra turn after defeating an enemy, doing so will also increase her action talent damage output.
She is also able to use her Technique to both avoid enemies and create striking opportunities. Her Technique also allows her to gain buffs by initiating combat. Her Ultimate, on the other hand, not only deals damage but also buffs her next attacks to the limit.
Blade

Last but not least we have Blade, also a member of the Stellaron Hunters, and one whose name is unknown. He threads the Path of Destruction and deals Wind damage.
Blade’s normal attacks consist of a sword strike. He is also able to use his Skill to expend HP in order to boost his normal attacks. After enough boosted strikes are dealt, his Talent will allow Blade to make use of an enhanced attack which will restore a portion of his health.
He is also able to make use of his Technique to gain an upper hand in battle by spending a portion of his HP in order to strike enemies first. His Ultimate, on the other hand, allows him to deal massive damage to multiple targets, in exchange for half of his Max HP.
Honkai: Star Rail is still in development, as the game currently entered its second close beta test, and it’s expected to be released worldwide somewhere in 2023. With that said, as you wait for the arrival of the upcoming title, you can play both Honkai Impact 3rd on PC and mobile devices, as well as Genshin Impact on PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices.
