HoYoverse, the developer behind both Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact, just revealed the official opening cutscene, or cinematic, for their upcoming turn-based RPG Honkai: Star Rail.

The cinematic stars Kafka, a Stellaron Hunter wanted by the Interastral Peace Corporation, while also featuring both previously revealed characters March 13th and Dan Heng. You can check out Honkai: Star Rail’s opening cutscene ”A Short Play” below, courtesy of the game’s official Youtube channel:

The game is set to feature a unique art style, which seems to merge both the sharp animations featured in Honkai Impact 3rd and the overall presentation presented in Genshin Impact. Just like both already mentioned titles, Honkai: Star Rail will be a free-to-play gacha game.

More on Honkai: Star Rail

The game is set to be a turn-based RPG, set to feature, as players already saw in its many trailers, a wide array of different characters, each featuring their own exclusive movesets. Honkai: Star Rail is also set to take place either after or during the events showcased on Honkai Impact 3rd’s A Post-Honkai Addisey story, as well as feature familiar faces for fans of the game, such as Welt Yang, and an alternative version of Murata Himeko, one of its most beloved characters.

You can check out more about the game, as well as more about one of its main characters, March 7rd, in the previously released March 7th “Let’s Take a Photo!” trailer.

Honkai: Star Rail is still in its closed beta stage and it’s expected to be released somewhere in 2023. As you wait for the arrival of the upcoming title, you can play both Honkai Impact 3rd on PC and mobile devices, as well as Genshin Impact on PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices.
