Horizon Forbidden West is continuing to receive patch notes that take care of some issues that players have been facing in the game. There’s a variety of different improvements for missions, quests, UI, graphics, and a whole lot more. The download is only 677.9MB on PlayStation 5, so it won’t take you too long to get back into the game. You will find all of the details on the release in the patch notes below.
1.08 Patch Notes
We’re currently investigating a number of issues that have been brought to our attention by members of the community. Please note that these issues are not yet addressed in this patch, but our teams are working to resolve them as soon as possible.
- The team is still looking into and tweaking the graphical issues that have been reported, such as shimmering, sharpening, and screen saturation.
- After fast traveling to any campfire while gliding inside a tornado, some players have reported multiple issues with various types of traversal.
- After completing the Black Box Collectibles activity, some players have reported that they are unable to receive their reward.
IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES
Main Missions
- Silent Strike on a quest-specific Bristleback would teleport the player to Chainscrape, which was fixed in the main quest ‘To The Brink.’
- Varl and Zo would sometimes idle outside of Plainsong and block progression in the main quest ‘The Dying Lands.’ This has been fixed.
- After restarting from a specific save, Aloy’s companions would not lead the way in the main quest ‘The Dying Lands.’
- Fixed an issue in the main quest ‘The Broken Sky’ where reloading a specific save could sometimes unintentionally disable fast travel.
- Loading a save created on the previous patch caused Aloy to become stuck in the Base in the main quest ‘Cradle of Echoes.’
- Fixed an issue where Aloy’s breathing sounds were playing during a cinematic sequence in the main quest ‘Thebes.’
- In the main quest ‘All That Remains,’ a bug was fixed that caused Aloy to spawn in the Base and be unable to leave if you restarted from a specific save.
Side Quests
- Ulvund didn’t get the memo in the side quest ‘The Bristlebacks,’ and remained in Chainscrape after the quest was completed.
- When reloading from a specific save in the side quest ‘What Was Lost,’ Kotallo would occasionally become unresponsive.
- Fixed a bug in the side quest ‘Blood For Blood,’ where Kavvoh and Arokkeh couldn’t be interacted with in certain circumstances, preventing progress.
- Fast traveling during the Slitherfang encounter caused the machine to not respawn, preventing progression in the side quest ‘Forbidden Legacy.’
- After damaging the Widemaws from a long distance, the quest objective “Go to the Drumroot” would not complete in the side quest “The Roots that Bind.”
- Fixed an issue where killing enemies before receiving the objective to do so could prevent progression in the errand quest ‘Call And Response.’
Activities Around the World
- In Gauntlet Run, an issue was fixed where passing the finish line in last place could result in a win under certain conditions.
- Several issues with specific Firegleam and Metal Flower icons not appearing on the map have been resolved.
- Fixed a bug where Firegleam icons were not properly removed from the map after the associated activity was completed.
- When loading a save made while playing Machine Strike, an issue where fast travel was disabled in certain circumstances was fixed.
UI/UX
- The Machine Strike UI would briefly flicker at the end of a game. This has been fixed.
Graphics
- After being submerged in water, Aloy would no longer appear wet.
- There have been a number of graphics fixes as well as improvements to the cinematics.
- Several visual enhancements in the shadows and clouds.
- When launching Photo Mode during a swan dive, the controls would become frozen.
Stability and Performance
- Several crashes have been fixed.
- In cinematics, there have been numerous performance and streaming improvements.
- Several unintentional loading screens and black screens have been removed.
- Multiple instances of streaming and visual popping have been resolved.
Other
- The movement and animations of NPCs in settlements have been improved.
- When using motion aiming and scanning machines, it’s now easier to tag individual components.
- When you pick up potions or tools that no longer fit in your toolbelt, they are now placed in your stash.
- Weapons and enemies have been rebalanced in several ways.
- Several instances where Aloy could become stuck in geometry have been fixed.
- During the final main quest, ‘Singularity,’ the ‘All Machine Types Scanned’ trophy could be easily overlooked.
- Fix for a bug in the mount call that caused the flying mount to spawn in inconvenient places and, in rare cases, be unreachable.
- Several datapoints that were previously locked when the player left a space are now automatically unlocked when the player exits that space.
- Multiple instances of specific music tracks becoming stuck and repeating have been resolved.
