Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, the new DLC for the hit action RPG from developer Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment, has released Patch 1.23 today. The update includes a wide variety of bug fixes for main quests, side quests, activities, general quality of life and more.
Horizon Forbidden West’s new Burning Shores expansion is available now on PlayStation. Here’s the new update announcement and a link to the full patch notes (which may include spoilers) from Guerilla’s official Twitter feed:
Horizon Forbidden West and its predecessor both set very high standards, so the Burning Shores DLC ended up with somewhat mixed reviews. This regards both its gameplay and the central romance. Some of the mechanics didn’t quite come together, and the relationship could have stood more nuance. However, there is plenty of new content and lore, so casual fans should probably be pleased.
There has been an equal share of large and small technical hiccups with Burning Shores, so the devs rolled out a decent patch today, directly focusing on bug fixes. Unfortunately, many completionists remained disappointed as the Aerial Capture: North fixes didn’t take. The devs have responded and are actively working on it further.
That aside, there’s a lot of cleanup today, many of which smartly concentrate on progression. There were a surprising number of blocks, and missing out on the paid content definitely needed to be a priority. Most of them address the “To the Burning Shores” and “His Final Act” main quests, including Seyka’s behavior.
There have also been some improvements for general performance, aiming to prevent crashes and enhance audio or video quality. Overall, the devs delivered a decent update with some sorely needed changes since the DLC arrived a couple of weeks ago.
