Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games have unveiled the launch trailer for the highly anticipated “Burning Shores” DLC, an exciting addition to the critically acclaimed action role-playing game, Horizon Forbidden West. Set to release on April 19 for the PlayStation 5 at a price of $19.99, this downloadable content promises to add new storylines, characters, and experiences to the post-apocalyptic world.
The plot of the “Burning Shores” expansion takes players south of the Tenakth Clan Lands, where the ruins of Los Angeles have been transformed into a perilous archipelago due to millennia of volcanic eruptions and violent seismic activity. Aloy, the game’s protagonist, is faced with a mysterious new threat to the planet, concealed within these untamed and hazardous wilds. As the enemy marches towards the Burning Shores, Aloy must uncover their motives and protect the endangered tribes.
Pre-ordering “Burning Shores” will grant players in-game bonuses, including the Blacktide Dye outfit and Blacktide Sharpshot Bow. The DLC is designed to be a continuation of Aloy’s story, introducing new machines and challenges in this breathtaking yet dangerous landscape.
To access the “Burning Shores” content, players must first complete the main quest of Horizon Forbidden West (up to and including Singularity) on the PS5 version. Once the main quest is completed, players will receive a call over Aloy’s Focus, signaling the start of the new adventure.
Horizon Forbidden West, released on February 18, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, is the sequel to the 2017 hit, Horizon Zero Dawn. Set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Western United States, players explore the open world, combat hostile machine creatures, and complete quests while uncovering the story of the world’s recovery from a devastating extinction event caused by a rogue robot swarm. The game received praise for its stunning visuals, engaging combat, and impressive vocal performances, although some aspects of its writing and open world design drew mixed reactions.
