Destiny’s 2 latest and arguably the most ambitious expansion, The Witch Queen, brings in some much-needed changes to the core gameplay formulae. For instance, now you can craft weapons in Destiny 2, a first for the series.
To complement new gameplay elements, The Witch Queen expansion also introduces new crafting resources, one of which is called “Neutral Element.” Read on to find out how exactly you can farm Neutral Element in Destiny 2.
Neutral Element is one of the rare crafting resources you will need in abundance to shape or reshape weapons in Destiny 2. Similar to Ascendant Alloys, you need Neutral Element to craft weapon perks (both regular and enhanced.) Thankfully, they are relatively easy to farm though you still have to grind plenty to craft legendary and exotic weapons.
Neutral Element in Destiny 2
At the time of this writing, the best plausible way to farm Neutral Element is by attuning weapons with Deepsight Resonance. These are your regular Primary, Energy, and Power weapons with red borders.
You must attune these weapons to extract their traits and use them in the weapons you want to craft. You can find more about weapon crafting in our extensive guide on the same.
Once you have attuned a Deepsight Resonance weapon, you can claim Resonant Elements from the weapons mod section of that weapon in your inventory. The Resonant Element consists of x200 Neutral Elements and either Mutable Element or Adroit Element. In short, every time you attune a Deepsight Resonance weapon, you get x200 Neutral Elements.
Unfortunately, these are not much and you will have to attune plenty of Deepsight Resonance weapons to craft the best weapons in the game. For example, to craft The Witch Queen exotic SMG Oseto Striga, you need x2,375 Neutral Elements. It means you have to attune at least 11 Deepsight Resonance weapons if you hope to get your hands on this shiny new exotic.
The other way to get Neutral Elements in Destiny 2 is by levelling up your crafted weapon. Every time you level up, you get 15 Neutral Elements, which is pretty low. As such, your best shot at acquiring Neutral Elements right now is to attune Deepsight Resonance Weapons.
