My Time at Sandrock is a game where the player has near limitless options in how they choose to spend each day in the game. Whether they go sand sledding past the bridge or talk to Burgess about the latest water crisis, players will do a lot of running around this dusty town. Luckily, there are options to get around faster than just running back and forth.

At any time after it’s unlocked in the story, the player is introduced to horses and yakmels as a way to get around. However, the game doesn’t tell players how to get a horse for the day or how to unlock one permanently at their home. In this guide, we’ll teach you all you need to know about getting a horse in My Time at Sandrock.

The first time the player is introduced to traveling by horse is when Elsie and her family show the player their farm. From then on, the player can head over to the farm and use the kiosk next to the barn to rent a mount. Players have a choice between a horse and a yakmel, with each differing in price.

Players who want a permanent horse will need to build the right facilities on their land. It takes some progression, but eventually, the player will be able to build a barn to house their animals. Players can head over to Heidi’s construction shop to build it and it will take a lot of money and materials to get it built.

Once you have the right facility built, you’ll need to go talk to Cooper about getting a new horse. You can check the same kiosk next to the barn in order to welcome your own horse.

That’s all you need to know about how to get a horse in My Time at Sandrock. Be sure to head to the My Time at Sandrock section of our website for more information and guides on the game!

Is this guide accurate? I’m seeing in game as well as in multiple other places that owning a horse is not yet supported in the current version of the game.

Yes, it’s accurate. That screenshot in the guide is from the game.

Were you able to own a horse without renting in the current version of the game as of July 16,2022?
