How to Get the Bloodhound’s Step in Elden Ring

Earn the Bloodhound's Step Ashes of War by fighting a boss in Caelid.
Elden Ring Bloodhound Step

Ashes of War come in all varieties within Elden Ring, but the Bloodhound’s Step may just be the best for evasion on a weapon skill. The quickstep is a common skill that is considered keen and can be found on multiple weapons in the game, but the Bloodhound’s Step is a unique drop. Players will need to fight a boss to claim their reward, but the good news is it’s a familiar face. This guide will outline where to get the Ashes of War and how to earn it.

Fighting the Night’s Cavalry for the Bloodhound’s Step in Elden Ring

To find the Bloodhound’s Step Ashes of War in Elden Ring, you’ll need to head over to Caelid, which is the southeastern region of the map effected by Scarlet Rot. More specifically, you’ll need to go north of Lenne’s Rise, a tower that is near the northern tip of Caelid. Near the rise, there is a bride on a side path. This bridge shouldn’t be mistaken for the massive path with the dragon guarding it.

Getting the Bloodhound’s Step at the bridge:

  • Head to the bridge north of Lenne’s Rise at night. Going during the day will not work.
  • When you arrive at the bridge, the Night’s Calvalry boss will be waiting if it’s night time.
  • This boss appears a few times in the game and is best fought on Torrent the mount.
  • Knocking the boss off the horse is possible and opens him up for free attacks on the ground.
  • With the Calvalry defeat, you will immediately earn the Bloodhound’s Step Ash of War as a reward.

What makes this Ash of War special is the enhanced ability of the quickstep. The Bloodhound version makes players invisible and the dash is more effective than the more common counterpart. Anyone who wants a fast moving ability that gives their weapon dexterity scaling can’t go wrong with this skill.

Whether you want the quickstep ability or another Ashes of War skill, they will need to be equipped if you’re looking for a new skill. Changing Ashes of War can be done at any Lost Grace site in the game, or at the Blacksmith within the Roundtable Hold. Obtaining more Whetblades in the game will allow for more skills to be equipped.

Make sure a weapon isn’t considered special first, because these weapons cannot be altered. Only upgrades can be given rather than a change of skill. For any other guides on the Lands Between, check out or Elden Ring section on the site!

So apparently this boss will jump off the bridge if you are against the edge on horseback and he jump attacks. Easy kill for me I guess. He was one shoting me otherwise so I’m happy
