How to Mega Evolve your Pokemon
You can Mega Evolve your Pokemon by using Mega Energy obtained from Mega Raid Battles and certain research tasks. You can also receive Mega Energy from walking with your Buddy Pokemon if you’ve already evolved a Pokemon from your Buddy Pokemon’s evolution line.
Certain Pokemon can be Mega Evolved, while some Pokemon can’t. You can check if your Pokemon is eligible for Mega Evolution by going to your Pokemon’s summary page. There you’ll see a button just below Power Up that says “Mega Evolve”. While Power Up requires Pokemon Candies, Mega Evolving your eligible Pokemon requires Mega Energy, obtained by participating in challenging Mega Raid Battles and completing research tasks. Once you have enough Mega Energy, you can Mega Evolve your Pokemon and use them for Trainer Battles, Gym Battles, and Raids.
Mega Evolution is not permanent, and your Mega Evolved Pokemon will revert to its Evolved state after 8 hours. Mega Evolving a Pokemon specie that you’ve already Mega Evolved requires no additional Mega Energy for Mega Evolutions the second time around. You need to wait for the Mega Evolution fatigue cooldown to complete, and you can Mega Evolve your Pokemon again. You can shorten this period by using Mega Energy. Mega Energy requirements differ from each Pokemon, so be sure which Pokemon to Mega Evolve. You can only use and have one Mega Evolved Pokemon in a certain period.
Mega Evolving your beloved Pokemon comes with its advantages. Other than having boosted stats and changed appearance, Mega Evolved Pokemon also provide a special type of bonus in the form of Mega Levels. Mega Levels can be increased by frequently Mega Evolving your Pokemon. Special bonuses such as Boosted Ally Attacks, Enhanced Catch XP Bonus, and Same-type Candy Bonus are just a few of the bonuses you can activate every time your Pokemon is Mega Evolved.
Using a Mega Evolved Pokemon can turn the tides in Pokemon Battle. While the Mega Evolution period lasts only 8 hours, you can always Mega Evolve your Pokemon in the Battle Preparation screen. This way, you can maximize your Mega Evolution bonuses without wasting a single minute.
