How to unlock Peppermint
To unlock Peppermint, who will be an ally that Chai can add to his ensemble team in Hi-Fi Rush, you’ll need to defeat the first boss, QA-1MIL. After you defeat QA-1MIL, 808 (the cat) will lead you into a cut scene where you first meet Peppermint. From there, you’ll need to continue to the next stage and follow it, and right before you get to the second boss of the game, you will go through tutorials that show you how to access Peppermint during a battle.
You’ll want to call in Peppermint to assist when you need her to shoot to destroy or to activate objects. You call her by holding RT to have her aim at a target and then release RT to have her fire. For example, Peppermint can shoot glass to break it. To Aim Freely, you’ll use RS while holding RT. While you can move Chai around, if he gets too far from Peppermint, she will retreat.
How to use Peppermint
One of the first times you can fight with Peppermint, you’ll be able to call her in to help destroy enemy barriers as well as to stun enemies, which gives Chai opportunities to attack. During a battle, you don’t have to stop and aim as Peppermint will attack whichever enemy Chai is currently targeting.
Peppermint can also juggle enemies in the air, which is useful for distracting weaker enemies from attacking Chai and giving him the ability to focus on tougher opponents before tackling the weaker ones.
Remember, you can only summon Peppermint into battle when her gauge is recharged, so pay attention to the recharge time! You’ll also want to save some Gears to upgrade Peppermint’s skills over time.
