The newest healer to join the Final Fantasy XIV roster is the Sage, a high-tech mage who looks just as comfortable in a shootout as they are in a hospital. The Disciple of Magic class uses aether, shields and floating guns to support their allies in combat. If you want to be a high-tech healer, we’ll show you how in this guide!

If being a Sage doesn’t end up being your style, you can always go a bit darker by heading to our How to Unlock the Reaper Class guide!

What You Need to Unlock Sage

To unlock the new Sage class in FFXIV: Endwalker, players will need to purchase the Endwalker expansion for the game and have a level 70 or higher Disciple of War or Magic class.

The Sage class is not available in character creation, nor is it included in the base game. The quickest way to get to level 70 and unlock the Sage class is to play through the Main Scenario Quests leading up to Endwalker, which you’ll need to do to understand the story anyway. Impatient or returning players can also buy a level boost from the Mogstation.

Where to Unlock Sage

If you meet all of the requirements to unlock Sage, you can do so by traveling to Limsa Lominsa and talking to the Sharlayan Maiden NPC. Doing this will begin the Sage’s Path quest, which unlocks Sage and grants you a set of starting gear.

Once this short quest is done, you’ll immediately unlock the next quest in the Sage storyline. The quest begins at level 70, meaning you’ll have to grind about 10 levels to catch up to the Endwalker story. We recommend grinding the Bozjan Southern Front for some good XP.

And that’s how you unlock the Sage class in FFXIV! Be sure to check out our other FFXIV guides on leveling and getting through the Endwalker expansion.
