Many of these games that allow players to live out an alternate life offer many different ways for the player to spend each day. Whether it be chatting with the local residents or digging through a pile of scrap, My Time at Sandrock offers the player plenty of opportunities to engage with the world. Fishing with a Sandfish Trap is one of the many ways players can find food.
Luckily, crafting and using a Sandfish Trap is fairly easy and taught to the player early in the game. However, like with some of the other tutorials, the game doesn’t go all the way in teaching how to use those mechanics. In this guide, we’ll teach you how to craft and use a Sandfish Trap in My Time at Sandrock.
How to fish with the Sandfish Trap in My Time at Sandrock
Once the player gets far enough in the game, they’ll unlock the recipe for the Basic Sandfish Trap, which consists of two copper bars, two wooden sticks, and a thick rope. Once the player has crafted the item, they’ll need to collect worms or other bait. At one of the three Sandfishing spots, the player can throw out some bait and then wait for the fish to stop before throwing out their trap.

Bait makes fishing with the Sandfish Trap much easier because the fish will stop and take time to eat it. While they’re stopped and snacking, the player has the perfect opportunity to throw the trap and catch the fish. Use the cursor that extends from the trap to highlight the fish before you throw it, so you know you’ll be hitting it right on target.
Different bait will have different effects on the Sandfish you’re hunting. When the bell appears, that means you’ve caught the fish and need to reel it in as quickly as possible.
That’s all you need to know about how to use the Sandfish Trap in My Time at Sandrock. Be sure to head to the My Time at Sandrock section of our website for more information and guides on the game!
