Hyenas, the upcoming multiplayer shooter from developer Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA, has revealed the map “Greed is Good” in a new trailer today.
Hyenas still doesn’t have a release date, but the devs continue to encourage curious fans to sign up for the PC Alpha. The game will be available on PC, as well as current and last-gen consoles for PlayStation and Xbox. Here’s the full trailer from Hyena’s official YouTube channel:
Hyenas also revealed the map “We Took Manhattan” last month, consistently showing off different sides of the game. This kind of pacing is good, and these map reveals give a better feel for the game than any raucous trailers. However, they probably won’t change anyone’s mind, if curious fans of the genre weren’t already sold on the mechanics or offbeat sense of humor.
Given the premise of Hyenas, the devs allowed themselves to intentionally indulge in a barrage of nostalgia throughout Greed is Good, whose name itself is a reference to the classic 80’s film Wall Street. However, while their selections are obvious, they’re also admittedly fun to see. It’s unclear if SEGA congratulating itself in-game suggests that they’re in on the joke, or not.
Most importantly, Greed is Good promises to function as a decent map in its own right. While We Took Manhattan was a map that felt expansive, Greed is Good feels a little more cluttered and tightly wound. As a result, there’ll be some great opportunities for close-range combat.
Otherwise, its art design is basically the same as other revealed footage. It would be more intriguing to see unique areas that do a little more to capitalize on the lore, aside from pure nostalgia. However, there is certainly plenty of time for that.
