The monumental Immortal Empires campaign that combines content from all three Total War: Warhammer games has officially left Beta. It will no longer requires players to own the first two Warhammer games.

It’s proven to be the ultimate celebration of Warhammer III’s first anniversary, as the game launched last year on February 17th. Here’s the full announcement from Total War’s official Twitter feed:

This move was accompanied by Update 2.4, which also included bug fixes and quality of life changes. In addition to the launch trailer for Immortal Empires’ new freedom, Total War: Warhammer III’s official YouTube channel released a brief rundown on those changes in a patch notes video:

While it may be hard to believe, Total War: Warhammer launched in 2016. The access barrier for new players has been intimidating, to say the least. Lifting that barrier is definitely going to invite newcomers, who would otherwise feel overwhelmed by the investment. Not just the cost of the games, but also catching up with the lore to recognize familiar faces.

Immortal Empires includes content from previous installments, making it an ideal and comprehensive way to enjoy the Warhammer experience. Today’s launch trailer was pure fan service, flaunting just how expansive Immortal Empires truly is. Much like the campaign itself, the trailer was basically one big reward for playing the games, showcasing unique character combinations with well-staged action.

Update 2.4 only addresses some very specific bugs and adds minor improvements, most of which are visual. However, the full patch notes have declared that today is “just the beginning” for Immortal Empires.

The devs also mention that it’s going to be “a very exciting year”, so any plans for the future are likely going to be announced or implemented sometime this year.
