Immortals of Aveum, a new action fantasy game from developer Ascendant Studios and publisher EA, has finally released the official reveal trailer that was teased earlier this week. The trailer elaborates on lore with extensive cinematics, and also features plenty of gameplay.
Immortals of Aveum also got a release date today, and is now slated to launch on July 20th, 2023. It will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. You can watch the full reveal trailer on the game’s official YouTube channel here:
Immortals of Aveum may have raised a few alarms with today’s trailer, since the sense of humor is definitely going to be divisive. There are more than a few quips that may have players concerned about a Forspoken approach. Both the dialogue and performances might feel a little corny for some.
However, there’s no question that the visuals and mechanics do look quite dazzling. The first-person point of view should also play a large role in the visual appeal and immersion.
There are a variety of abilities and effects that look detailed and creative enough. Today’s trailer reveals the synergy between some of these abilities, and the animation seems fairly smooth. It’s important to note that the trailer also carefully mentions that the footage is not final and should still be considered in-progress.
Immortals of Aveum seems to offer a traditional EA experience while breaking new ground for them, and single player gameplay is already getting a lot of hype. The fantasy genre often lends itself to cooperative gameplay, so subverting those expectations might intrigue those fans.
And magic is rarely used as an outright shooter, so Immortals of Aveum has something fairly novel to add to these genres.
