Evil Dead: The Game is now available and players are getting a chance to play as some of their favorite characters from the franchise. If you’re on the side of the survivors, you are going to want to be able to communicate with your team. One convenient method is by using push-to-talk so you aren’t using an open mic and disturbing everyone else in the game. We’ll walk you through a bit about what’s going on with voice chat in this guide.
Voice Chat in Evil Dead: The Game
Unfortunately, no you can’t use push-to-talk in Evil Dead: The Game. This seems like a pretty significant oversight by the developers, as this is a very common feature in multiplayer games. If you want to use your mic to talk things over with your team, your only option right now is to have it completely open. That means background noise and voices of other people in your home might get picked up and transmitted.
If you’re playing the game on the PlayStation 5, you do have an option for push-to-chat. There’s a button in the middle of your controller towards the bottom that acts as a mute and unmute for your microphone. You can toggle this on and off when you want to speak and be muted.
Another potential way to talk without having your mic constantly open is to utilize the physical mute button that appears on certain microphones. This again isn’t the greatest, but it gives you an option where one isn’t currently available.
Your other options are just to mute your mic completely or turn off communications in the settings menu. This obviously isn’t the best, but at the very least you’ll be able to shut down too much chatter from players who have open mics that are broadcasting a ton of noise.
Another surprise with Evil Dead: The Game is that there’s no in-game chat. Which makes the muting of the voice communications even less appealing, because you will have absolutely no way to talk things out with your team without one.
Hopefully, the game will get the much needed push-to-talk option added in a future update! In the meantime, check out our Evil Dead: The Game Review to get our opinion on the newly released title.
