Jurassic World Evolution 2, the popular park management sim from developer and publisher Frontier Developments, has just released a new trailer focusing on Archelon in the new Species Field Guide series. The devs plan on this series providing “up to date information on a range of the prehistoric animals and dinosaurs”.

Archelon will be featured in the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack DLC, which will release later this week on August 10th, 2023. Jurassic World Evolution 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch today’s new Archelon teaser on the game’s official YouTube channel:

According to the Steam page, the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack will also include Nothosaurus, Dunkleosteus, and Shonisaurus. However, there’s hardly enough time for the Species Field Guide to cover these other additions before launch, since the DLC was only just announced a few days ago.

Still, the Species Field Guide is a welcome piece of marketing. Detailed trailers that dedicate more gameplay and footage of each DLC should help regularly renew interest. Jurassic World Evolution 2 recently got a big boost in June, when it celebrated the anniversary of the original Jurassic Park film with a themed update.

But the devs continue to regularly update Jurassic World Evolution 2, and Archelon is a tremendous delight. The narration in today’s trailer is much appreciated, and sort of a nod to the original film’s intended Jeep ride.

Behavior is crucial for the gameplay itself. But the trailer’s academic approach really lines up with the fanbase’s admiration for the prehistoric world. Learning more about it is a big draw of the game. Hopefully, the next DLC will include episodes of the Species Field Guide for each new addition.
