In a recent interview, actor Keanu Reeves provided his insights on his portrayal of Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC by CD Projekt Red.
When asked about the new location, Dogtown, introduced in the Phantom Liberty DLC, Reeves said, “Night City has its own kind of levels to it, and I think Dogtown is kind of going down to a darker place.” Describing the dystopian atmosphere of Dogtown, Reeves added, “It’s controlled by a militia… ****’s gone down in Dogtown.”

Reeves spoke about a new character being introduced in the Phantom Liberty DLC, Colonel Kurt Hansen. “He’s ex-military, too, ruthless, power-hungry, manipulative,” said Reeves about Hansen. Unleashing his inner Johnny, he confessed, “Johnny doesn’t like him.”
Reflecting on his character, Johnny Silverhand, Reeves said, “He is outspoken. He is a little grumpy and he has a right to be.” Reeves delved into the depths of Johnny’s character, stating, “And I think that through that kind of hardness of his outside, there is a vulnerability to him.”
Speaking about the relationship between Johnny and Solomon Reed, a new character voiced by Idris Elba in the Phantom Liberty DLC, Reeves highlighted the similarities in their character arcs. “Solomon’s kind of trying to reclaim his life, you know? And Johnny’s doing the same thing,” Reeves explained.
As for the Phantom Liberty’s potential as a spy thriller, Reeves shared, “The quest to understand what’s going on. So, and the kind of scavenger hunt of information, the mystery, the double crossing, what is true, what’s fiction?” According to him, the amplified sense of uncertainty enhances the overall gaming experience.
