After a long and uncertain development process, we’ve got true confirmation that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) is still being developed. Saber Interactive, the current developer of the highly anticipated remake, has revealed that the project is still actively in progress.

In a recent interview with IGN, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch assured fans that the remake is still in development. Although Karch didn’t provide any additional information or a release timeframe, his statement provides much-needed reassurance amid the ongoing uncertainty.

“It’s clear and it’s obivous that we’re working on this. It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”

The KOTOR remake has encountered major challenges. It was first announced in 2021 after spending several years under Aspyr Media. However, the project was put on hold indefinitely due to reported development issues. In 2022, Saber Interactive assumed control of the project, bringing renewed optimism for its eventual release. Despite this change, there have been few updates on its progress since then.

After the issues with Star Wars Battlefront, I’m really glad Aspyr isn’t a part of the remake anymore. Knowing the KOTOR remake is still in development following Saber Interactive’s recent split from Embracer Group is a relief. We’ll have to wait on anything more than just confirmation later, but hopefully, a new trailer will come this year.
