After a year of waiting, Riot Games will finally be releasing Ahri’s ASU. Her base, her skins, new VFX, splashes, and all nine tails have been updated for the new season and will be out in just a few weeks. There are also a few champions who will receive a new skin this year, including Aurelion Sol, Ivern, Kled, and Kalista.
Starting this year, the two Ranked Splits will also have a full ranked reset in between, with rewards to match. This update is intended to support players who come back to League at the start of the Season. Furthermore, this update will allow players to earn the full ranked rewards suite, including icons and emotes, Ranked borders, and a Ranked skin for each split, which means, there will be two skins for Ranked this year.
There will also be additional awards as players move through the ranks. In addition to this, the Gold rank requirement from Ranked skins will be removed. In Season 2023, every Ranked player will have the chance to earn the skin moving forward with chromas to match their final rank.
Riot Games also stated that they will be focusing on updates to some neglected portions of the existing champion roster. This Season 2023 update will start with Aurelion Sol. Not only can Aurelion Sol forge stars like a nebula in deep space, but he can also now drop them from the sky onto his foes in Summoner’s Rift. In addition to gameplay changes, voiceovers of a few older champions will be updated.
Riot Lexical also gave a few hints about the details of the new champion of the year. For the first time, a male enchanter from Ixtal, known as Milio, will be joining the champion roster. Meanwhile, a new midlane assassin, Naafiri, will also be introduced and is said to be perfect for those who want to focus on the hunt. Additionally, the Skarner VGU team has been exploring ways of improving his scorpion fantasy. Later this year, Riot Games will provide a dev blog with further details on his development.
