Navigating the dark world of Pinocchio in Lies of P can be a daunting task, especially when faced with the decision of which stats to level up. To succeed against the challenging mechanics and intense battles Lies of P has to offer, it’s crucial to prioritize the right stats to ensure you don’t get one shot by the next boss or enemy.
Our Lies of P Best Stats to Level Up guide will help you understand which stats to focus on and why. And we’ll also give you tweaks here and there depending on your build.
Which Stats Should You Level Up First in Lies of P?
When you have just started in Lies of P, not much matters apart from trying to survive. Learning the ropes and mechanics of the game is paramount. Thinking about what weapon type you’re going to prefer to use isn’t going to help you survive the first few bosses. The stats, personally, from my experience, you should focus on are the following:
Main Stats to Prioritize First in Lies of P

Vitality
Vitality is how much health your character has. The lower the stat, the less health; the higher the stat, the more health. It’s pretty straightforward. You need to focus on Vitality until you are more confident in Lies of P. A significant mechanic in Lies of P is called Guard Regain, where you get your health back by counterattacking after you’ve blocked. The higher the Vitality, the higher the Guard Regain, meaning getting your health back quicker before the effect disappears or you get hit. This mechanic is highly influenced by Bloodborne.
Things hit hard in Lies of P, and the first main boss you come across, the Scrapped Watchmen, is your first real taste of whether you’re going to stop playing Lies of P or not. If you have not closely perfected perfect block, you’re going to find this boss massively hard without health.
You only get four Pulse Cells, which can recharge back up to one if you play well, perfect block and deal damage, etc. This, honestly, is not a lot. When I fought the Scrapped Watchmen, I used five Pulse Cells, and the next move would either kill the boss, or I’d make a mistake and die. Spoiler: I won.
You do not want to focus on your main stats of damage—Motivity, Technique, and Advance—as you don’t know what weapon type you’re going to like or anything about the game. These are stats you’ll focus on if you know the game pretty well.
Honorable Mention Stat
Advance
This is a weird one, but hear me out. The first few starting areas of Lies of P are weak to Electric Blitz, and the following areas to Fire. Putting a few levels into Advance will slightly bolster your elemental damage. You can pick up the Electric Coil Stick by purchasing from the Wandering Merchant for 1200 Ergo, near the Inside the House on Boulevard Stargazer. The Electric Coil Stick will do you well until you decide whether to go Motivity or Technique. I’m well into the game’s starting areas and still wielding the Electric Coil Stick.
I wouldn’t go crazy into this, but a few levels will go a long way.
Main Stats to Prioritize Second in Lies of P

These following stats you should second in Lies of P, but are entirely based on the build you have chosen.
Path of the Sweeper
If you have chosen the path of the Sweeper, you have a few stats you need to focus on alongside Vitality. These shouldn’t be looked at until you have an ample supply of Vitality. The main stats you need to focus on next in Lies of P are Motivity and Capacity.
Capacity
Capacity is how much weight you can carry before it drains your stamina and combat prowess. You honestly never want to go above 60% if you can help it. Going above 80% and beyond will start to cripple you. Since you’ll be focusing on putting your weight behind heavy weapons, such as Greatswords and Large Blunt weapons. These weapons are not light, meaning you’ll only be able to equip one weapon at a time at the start of the game. This means you have to find a weapon style you like and stick with it.
As I said before, you never want to go above 60%, so the more you put into Capacity, you’ll be able to wield heavy weapons without any detrimental effects and maybe even, over time, be able to equip a second weapon.
Motivity
Motivity is equivalent to your strength stat in Dark Souls. Most heavy weapons will have a higher Motivity scaling, and the more you put into Motivity, the more damage you will deal in Lies of P. The handle of weapons is essential; always focus on the handle. Remember, you can dissemble most weapons, not boss weapons, so play around and find the weapon you want, but with the highest Motivity Scaling possible: A.
Vigor
Vigor is how much stamina your character has. The higher the Vigor, the more stamina you have. This is incredibly important for players who want to attack more than one at a time with a heavy weapon or those who want to weave in and out of combat with dodges. With the normal amount of Vigor you get with the Sweeper path, which is five, you get, at best, two swings with a Greatsword before you run out of stamina. One swing if you intend to have a backup dodge. It’ll be best to level up this stat to maybe 10, or enough that you feel like you can attack more than twice and still get away if you need to.
Path of the Bastard
If you have chosen the Path of the Bastard, this means you want to focus on weaving in and out of attacks with the premise of not being hit. The main stats you want to focus on in this build are Technique and Vigor.
Vigor
Vigor is how much stamina your character has. The higher the Vigor, the more stamina you have. This is incredibly important for players whose main build revolves around dodging as much as possible instead of relying on blocking and perfect guarding. However, perfect guarding is still worth attempting. As a player using Technique, you’ll use light weapons with fast attack speeds, allowing you to combo more than a player using Motivity. But you can choose a beefier weapon and focus on dodging. As a plus, you can sprint further!
Technique
Technique is the Dexterity stat in other Soulslike titles. Most light weapons will have a higher Technique scaling, such as the boss weapon Etiquette, and the more you put into Technique, the more damage you will deal in Lies of P. The handle of weapons is important; always focus on the handle, as this is what uses your ability scaling. Remember, you can dissemble most weapons, not boss weapons, so play around and find the weapon you want, but with the highest Technique Scaling possible: A.
Honorable Mention
Capacity
Since you’re focusing on dodging and not getting hit, we must ensure you survive when you take those hits. Put enough levels into Capacity that you’re consistently below 60% and can equip top-defense gear, then focus on Technique and Vigor.
Path of the Cricket
This will be a copout if you use Path of the Cricket in Lies of P. You have the chance to build your character in many ways. So my advice is to put points into Vitality until you find a weapon that you really like—then start building around that weapon. You also have the ability to spec into Advance, which is a viable elemental damage build.
