Light Dragon Location Map with Path in TotK Tears of the Kingdom

The Light Dragon’s location loosely follows the borders of the Surface map, which makes for a very long, flight path and makes this dragon a challenge to track down. Unlike the other three dragons in TotK, the route is enormous. There are also some things you should have and/or complete before tracking down the Light Dragon, which will make it much, much easier to reach!

First and foremost, you need at least two rings of stamina (equivalent of 20 shrines completed), so you’ll want to make some decent progress through the game before trying to jump on the Light Dragon. The reason this is necessary is because the easiest way to locate the Light Dragon is by going to the Great Deku Tree and getting the quest “Recovering the Hero’s Sword.” This will mark the Light Dragon on your map, which will let you know where it is on its flightpath.

It makes more sense to follow the quest and complete its objectives and then finish up with going to the Light Dragon, but you could go straight to the Light Dragon as well. Regardless of what you choose, you are going to want to wait until the Light Dragon is near a Skyview Tower that you have access to so that you can use it to shoot yourself up into the air and then paraglide your way onto its back.

Similar to other dragons, areas that are glowing tend to be parts that you can grab and use later on, and since this dragon is not the easiest to find, it’s a good idea to grab what you can every time you’re on it!

Alternatively, you can finish the Dragon’s Tear questline and when you’re at the location of the final Dragon Tear, the Light Dragon will be at ground level (instead of incredibly high up!). You will need to build a Zonai machine so you can approach and paraglide onto the dragon’s back. Make sure you already have two wheels of Stamina before completing!
