The Tekken 8 game roster continues to grow, as Emilie ‘Lili’ De Rochefort has been revealed as the latest addition, joining Paul Phoenix, Leroy Smith, and Asuka Kazama. Lili’s entrance was accompanied by a trailer that displayed her unique fighting abilities and her affection for her cat, Salt.
Lili’s self-taught fighting style is characterized by a mix of gymnastics moves and dance-like, acrobatic maneuvers. Her attacks are elegant and graceful, reflecting her privileged upbringing as the only daughter of a wealthy Monegasque oil magnate. Despite her father’s disapproval of fighting, Lili developed a hunger for conflict after successfully defending herself during a kidnapping incident four years prior to the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5.
Her moves are versatile and effective, benefiting from her long legs that provide great range and reach. Lili’s damage output is impressive, with counterattacks, juggling, and wall fighting all contributing to her opponent’s health depletion. However, some of her popular strings are easily recognizable and may leave her vulnerable to punishment. Lili’s speed is also somewhat slow, and her attacks are prone to being sidestepped due to her lack of homing attacks. To compensate, she employs ranged attacks for mid to long-range control. Her lows, though, are predictable and may make it difficult for her to open up opponents.
Lili’s personality is often described as snobbish and flippant, with superficially good manners that can sometimes be dismissive and insensitive. Despite her sadistic tendencies, she cares deeply for her father’s wellbeing and enters tournaments in secret or when he is too weak to object, in an attempt to protect his business from the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Tekken 8, the tenth overall installment in the series, is an upcoming fighting game co-developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika, and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Although the release date has yet to be announced, the game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and Series S platforms.
