What’s Coming to League of Legends With Season 14?

The arrival of Season 14 in League of Legends brings an array of significant changes, particularly to the game’s map, the Void dimension, and the item system. These updates are set to reshape the gameplay experience, offering both new challenges and strategies for LoL players.

Map Changes in LoL Season 14

Season 14 introduces major alterations to Summoner’s Rift, aiming for better balance and symmetry across the lanes. The top lane sees a reduction in ganking routes on the red side, with a new obstacle guiding players behind the red side tower. In the jungle, improvements near the dragon area facilitate easier access and strategic play. The mid lane now mirrors blue and red sides, offering enhanced protection from jungle ganks. Bot lane adjustments mainly affect the red side, opening up a cross-section connecting the jungle, lane, and river, with strategic bush placement in the center.

LoL S14 Void Changes

The Void dimension, a fan-favorite aspect of LoL, becomes more prominent this season. Three Voidgrubs replace the Rift Herald in the baron pit, spawning Voidmites for defense and granting players a buff called “The Hunger of the Void.” The Rift Herald and Baron Nashor both undergo visual and functional changes, with the latter appearing in three distinct forms that alter its combat style and the surrounding terrain.

Season 14 Item Changes

Season 14 also sees the departure of mythic items. The item system is restructured into categories like Mage, Assassin, Tank, and others, with several items being removed and new ones added to maintain game dynamics. Support items and quests are streamlined into a single item, the World Atlas, which evolves through gameplay into one of five specialized support items.

League of Legends Season 14 Split periods

League of Legends Season 14 introduces three competitive splits, each with unique rewards and a concluding soft reset in ranked tiers.

  • Split 1: January 9th to May 2024
  • Split 2: May to September 2024
  • Split 3: September 2024 to January 2025

The exact dates, especially for the end of Split 1, may shift based on Riot Games’ content release schedule. Each split offers players the chance to earn distinct rewards and concludes with a soft reset of ranked tiers, setting the stage for the next competitive period.
