Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an upcoming action-adventure video game with a story-driven focus developed and released by Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon. The game was initially announced for release in 2021 by Daedalic Entertainment but it has been subject to several delays since then.

In May 2022, Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced for a September 1, 2022 release date for the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, while the Nintendo Switch version would be released on November 30, 2022. Eventually, the developers announced a further delay of a few months on July 25, 2022.

Recently, Nacon released its Q3 2022 Earnings report, which summarizes the company’s revenues over the previous year. Alongside the financial report comes the company’s ambitious growth plan for the years 2023 and 2024, which includes the release of around 20 new games. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, one of the most anticipated new games from Nacon, will be published between April and September 2023.

In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, players take on the role of Gollum and go on a treacherous adventure in pursuit of the one thing that is precious to him. Gollum is dexterous and smart, yet his split personality makes him conflicted. As such players will depend on stealth, agility, and cunning to live and prevail as well as climb, jump, and wrestle their way past dangers and into advantageous spots.

The choices that players make and the way they play will have a direct influence on Gollum’s personality. It is up to players to decide whether the darker side of Gollum or Sméagol’s spark of reason takes over.

Despite his importance to the story by J.R.R. Tolkien, many parts of Gollum’s journey have not been told in detail yet. With The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, fans will finally be able to experience Gollum’s story, from his days as a slave under the Dark Tower through his time with the Elves of Mirkwood.
