CI Games has released the Master of Fate update (Version 1.5) for their action RPG Lords of the Fallen. This update is a significant step in the game’s post-launch updates, bringing in an advanced game modifier system that allows players to customize their gameplay experience.

One of the main new features of this update is the randomization of loot and enemy spawns. Players won’t know what item or weapon they’ll find next, and they can encounter any of the game’s 70+ enemy types unexpectedly in both the living and dead realms. This unpredictability changes how players strategize, making them adapt on the spot.

The challenge can be made harder with modifiers that increase the number of enemies in battles or make health items less effective. One of these modifiers, “Withered Healing,” changes the healing mechanic to focus on aggressive play, where you can only regain health by damaging enemies.

The Master of Fate update introduces Ironman Mode for players looking for a tough challenge. In this mode, if a player dies, they start their playthrough over while keeping their items and character level. This is the rogue element mentioned before.

The combination of these changes could significantly change how Lords of the Fallen is played. The game becomes more like a roguelike by enabling the randomized enemy spawns, randomized loot drops, and Ironman Mode modifiers. Players will need to be more adaptable and make quick decisions due to the unpredictability of gear and enemies. Making a mistake could mean starting over from the beginning.
