Mario Kart Tour, the hit mobile kart game based on the classic franchise, has released a new trailer teasing the Winter Tour, which mainly features courses inspired by Asia. Mario Kart Tour continues to impress with today’s new trailer, which appears to include some of the most content compared to any previous update. The Singapore course looks absolutely gorgeous, and the general theme of the new tour seems to be celebrating the Lunar New Year.
More than a few video games are joining in the Lunar New Year festivities, such as The Cycle: Frontier’s new Lunar Fest Event, as well as Dead by Daylight’s Moonlight Burrow Event, both of which were just announced this week. It’s always a delight to see the gaming industry unite different cultures through joyful and meaningful holidays.
Mario Kart Tour always takes the opportunity to be more inclusive, thanks to its global setting. It’s a welcome surprise to see Mario Kart Tour emphasize Asia throughout the new tour, and it further reinforces how much more dev support and content it boasts compared to the core series.
Every update in Mario Kart Tour calls to mind how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can hardly be bothered to add new courses, let alone pave the way for a sequel. Although it’s fun to see classic tracks, Mario Kart Tour consistently adds new cosmetics, courses, and generally feels timely.
The Winter Tour trailer also shows off a lion kart, and Nintendo teased a matching “Roaring Racer” Mii racing suit, which has a fairly detailed and cute design:
