Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo’s hit mobile kart racer, has just released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Bowser Tour and Mii Racing Suits wave 31. The new tour is slated to roll out on May 2nd, 2023, and it will feature the SNES Bowser Castle 3 course.
Mario Kart Tour is available now on the App Store and Google Play. You can watch the full Bowser Tour trailer on the Nintendo Mobile YouTube channel:
A simple music cue kicks off the new trailer well, since the new tour should prove very nostalgic, since it’s actually a first. The visuals look absolutely spectacular and haven’t lost any of their personality. In fact, some sharp-eyed fans noticed that the background of the new course could signal GBA Bowser’s Castle 4, though nothing’s officially confirmed.
It’s a little unfortunate that there won’t be any new racers, and there’s been some backlash over the absence of any new alts for Bowser Jr. or Bowser. It’s sort of a missed opportunity to continue capitalizing on the movie’s outfits, such as the Odyssey wedding getup.
However, Mario Kart Tour has at least offered a strong variety of courses, and its original global tracks feel very distinguishable when they’re woven into the core game. Most free to play games suffer from the opposite problem, leaning further into cosmetics instead of gameplay content.
The supply of alts has always been uneven, but hopefully they’ll add some of the more glaring absences. Instead, Mario Kart Tour is still focusing on Mii Racing Suits, which is introducing another wave alongside the new Bowser Tour. Although the wave is oddly missing Wendy, there are some fun suits here:
