One thing that feels like it should be standard in most games is New Game Plus (NG+). Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 did not launch with it and players have been asking for it for a while. Insomniac Games, the developer, is finally bringing it in a free update.

For those who don’t know, NG+ allows players to replay the entire story campaign with all previously unlocked abilities. In the case of Spider-Man 2, this means suits, abilities, and upgrades carrying over. This mode also introduces new challenges, including Ultimate Levels that surpass the base game’s level cap and unlock new cosmetic suit styles for Peter’s symbiote suits. Players can also acquire Golden Gadget Styles for a visual or cosmetic upgrade to their gadgets.

Beyond the New Game Plus, the update includes a Mission Replay feature. This is something else that feels like it should be standard. This lets players replay any mission they’ve finished before. Players also now have the option to adjust the time of day in the post-game, providing a new view of the well-known New York City setting. This is perfect for Photo Modes.

Speaking of Photo Mode, it now has an “Action Figure Mode” that allows players to shrink characters for interesting photo opportunities. Additionally, new stickers have been added to decorate photos. Two new suits inspired by the Hellfire Gala event have also been introduced, and a “Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack” is available for purchase, offering two additional suits for Peter and Miles Morales.

To be honest, there is a lot of free content from the new update. The video above goes over all of it, but what’s cool is the accessibility features added. Players with visual impairments can now benefit from Audio Descriptions that narrate key visuals and actions during cinematics. There is also a new screen reader that relays text across menus, tutorials, and control hints. These features are available in multiple languages.

Aside from that, the bugs and glitches are fixed, but it’s hard not to like everything coming. This seems like a way of celebrating the game’s Game of The Year win. To be clear, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 only won Sony’s PlayStation Game of the Year award, which Sony hosted shortly after it lost the Game Awards’ Game of the Year award.
