Marvel’s Spider-Man Installation Stuck at 36% For Many Disc Players

Many players are reporting that their physical copies of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 won't install. It's an issue we cover in this article.

Many Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 buyers are claiming that their discs are not completing the installation of the game. The constant among them is that the installation is stopping at 36% and staying at that point. Maybe there was an error when printing the discs, or maybe it’s just supposed to take a while, but it seems to be the former.

As seen in a Reddit post and in a Resetera post, multiple players are reporting that they cannot load up Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Some have had to wait an hour while others have gotten an error message, and it is only affecting those who bought physical versions of the game. The installation stops at 36% for everyone who has reported it in these threads, with some going very far to try and fix it. To quote one user:

“I have tried deleting and installing five times. I’ve cleared the system cache and rebuilt the database. The install always stops at 36%. The drive just spins down and clicks a little before throwing up a disc error.”

It would seem like the issues may have been unrelated if it was at random times or different installation percentages, but those affected seem to be reporting the same issue. There isn’t really a fix that you can do to correct this – even though many sites may clickbait you with the usual instructions – so you’ll have to wait for a Sony fix.

The Marvel’s Spider-Man games have had some rough patches in their launches, and something like this is easily fixable. A patch could potentially fix how the console reacts to the disc, or Sony may allow players to download this part online and use their disc. The latter may lead to pirates being able to steal the game, but it’s hard to fix a disc issue like this. If anything it shows how much better of an option digital is becoming.
