Microsoft has now made Game Hubs available to all PC players using the Xbox app. This update provides a centralized location (hub) for players to handle different aspects of their favorite titles. It has everything you’d expect: track progress, discover content, connect with friends, and manage game captures.
Game Hubs are like one-stop shops for each game. In a game’s hub, you can easily see your progress, such as achievements or campaign completion. The hubs also provide quick access to the newest game developments, updates, and announcements from the developers, keeping players in the loop about the games they play.
Game Hubs are boosting the social side of gaming. Players can now connect with friends, check out their profiles, compare progress, and send out party invitations directly from the hub. Moreover, Game Hubs have a dedicated section right within the hub that makes it easier to discover and buy new content or add-ons.
Microsoft has brought back the game capture feature. Any screenshots or game clips recorded through the Xbox Game Bar will be shown in the respective game’s hub and saved on the player’s PC. These captures can be easily viewed, copied for sharing, or accessed directly from their file location. I am unsure about that one since I’ve dealt with Microsoft’s game capture system, and it’s always been so far behind OBS and PlayStation.
Microsoft has stated that the Game Hubs feature is still being worked on, with more enhancements and refinements scheduled for future updates. We’re not sure what those are specifically, but I’m sure we’ll see soon. Additionally, the company is experimenting with a new sub-navigation experience for the Game Pass tab within the Xbox app on PC to improve the overall user experience for a group of players and Xbox Insiders.
In addition to the updates for PC, the Xbox April console update has started rolling out. This update includes integrating Discord Voice soundboard audio, enabling players to hear these sound effects during calls or in channels. Furthermore, OneDrive notifications will now alert players of their saved game captures and clips when running low on storage space. You can generally purchase 100GB from One Drive for $20 a year. I did it yesterday, and it’s really worth it.
New parental control options have been introduced, enabling the limitation of game and app installations or removals using a “guest PIN.”
