Microsoft has announced a big change to its popular Microsoft Rewards program. The current Microsoft Rewards app used on Xbox consoles to earn points and redeem rewards is going away. The final day to use the app for earning rewards will be April 15, 2024. Also, weekly reward sets and the associated streak bonuses will end on the same date.

As shown in a Twitter post from a user, Microsoft has decided to simplify the Rewards experience across devices by integrating Microsoft Rewards into a new Rewards hub. This hub will serve as a centralized location for managing Xbox-related activities, reward goals, and point redemption and will be accessible from various devices. The standalone Xbox app will be discontinued as a result of this decision.

The claim is that this will make the user’s experience better, but that remains to be seen. Players can earn points by playing games in the new Rewards hub, just like the old one. However, users can look forward to personalized activities and an easy way to track progress and handle rewards.

While the exact setup of the Rewards hub’s new activities isn’t fully known yet, Microsoft says they will look for more ways to earn rewards going forward. The company stresses that the switch won’t result in losing current points. Any Microsoft Rewards points earned through the Xbox app will stay valid and transfer to the new system.

The decision to stop the standalone Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox consoles shows a big change in the company’s rewards program. While we only have the message to use as a reference, there will likely be a full announcement in time.
