There may be a new Xbox Series X, and it might be a more powerful version of the S.

Rumors indicate that Microsoft is considering launching a new Xbox Series X model in mid-2024. This potential revision would feature a white design and exclude the disc drive, transforming it into an all-digital console. While awaiting official confirmation, sources have reported viewing confidential footage of the device.

As reported by Exputer, the new digital Xbox Series X could be particularly appealing due to its price. With no disc drive, it may be priced $50-$100 lower than the current $499.99 model (in the US and select regions). However, the exact pricing details are still unconfirmed.

I thought the Xbox Series S was the digital version, and it just happened to also be less powerful. However, beyond the color change and digital focus, the white Xbox Series X reportedly includes an enhanced heatsink and an upgraded Nexus card compared to the current model. There are no images of the new console available due to the sensitive nature of the information.

It’s crucial to remember that while this is based on a leak, it is backed by the credibility of Exputer. While the possibility of a more affordable, digital-only Xbox Series X with performance improvements is exciting, official confirmation from Microsoft is needed before making any definitive conclusions. Should this potential new console be released, it will likely become much more popular than it would have been at the Series X launch.

Digital games are becoming much more sought after than physical ones. Also, it being cheaper would have a big draw on consumers. Ultimately, only time will show if this all-digital white Xbox Series X becomes a reality. Until then, we have the Xbox Series S.
