Minecraft is hosting a four-day Universal Studios in-game event that’ll take you behind the scenes of Hollywood magic. The event will run until December 22, 2022, but there’s daily gifts involved so there are great reasons to log in right now.

According to the blog post, this event takes place in a Minecraft world inspired by Universal Studios Hollywood’s iconic Studio Tour. Wander through sets straight out of huge blockbusters, from the bustling streets of New York City to the swampy abode of Shrek and Donkey. Unlike the real-life tour, you can get out and participate in quests and mini-games. There are games to test your parkour skills on rooftop challenges and an aquatic encounter event inspired by JAWS, and you may even be able to capture a selfie with your favorite character.

Throughout the event, players will get free goodies. Log in daily until January 8 to claim free items, including some ogre ears for the in-game Character Creator (Shrek is love).

All you have to do to join is to load up Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on December 19 and click the dedicated event button on the main screen. Unfortunately, Java edition players won’t be able to participate. You also need to have updated to the most recent edition of Bedrock. You must also have online play subscriptions for your platform if your platform uses them.

Even if you’re not into the whole event, logging in daily to claim the free rewards is still a good idea. While the Shrek cosmetics (Shrek is life) were highlighted, there will likely be more cool movie-inspired gifts. Universal Studios owns a lot of movie franchises, so they potentially have a wide variety of cosmetics to give away. So load up the game because it can be worth it.
