In the latest development, Warner Bros. Games and developer NetherRealm Studios have unveiled a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, called “The Banished,” that confirms the addition of Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik as playable characters. Furthermore, the trailer also reveals Sareena as a Kameo fighter.

These newly announced characters each hail from different realms, and the “Banished” trailer offers a glimpse into their gameplay as well as story elements. Starting with Reptile, his real name is Syzoth, a reptiloid slave and shapeshifter originating from Outworld’s fringes. His signature move is spewing a potent acid-like substance at his opponents, providing a unique element in combat.

In contrast, Ashrah, a Netherrealm demon, represents a character who has renounced her previous malevolent ideologies. Now, she fights armed with an enchanted Kriss dagger and is on a path seeking absolution. This storyline provides a complex narrative for this character, adding depth to her role in the game.

Lastly, Havik hails from the realm of Seido, known for its oppressive regime. An anarchist rebel, Havik is intent on dismantling his world’s governing structure. His combat style is equally unconventional, leveraging a distinctive limb-tearing technique that promises to bring a new dynamic to the fights.

Mortal Kombat 1, with its ever-expanding roster, is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 19. The inclusion of Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik, showcased in the recent “Banished” trailer, introduces new narrative and gameplay elements to the game.
